FEED A NEIGHBOR PROJECT

Programs to improve security for our seniors
The rate of hunger among seniors age 60 and older has increased by 53% since 2001. Without food assistance many vulnerable seniors would go without food. These seniors face difficult choices day by day. Seniors are faced to choose between their health and living expenses when they are put in a difficult position of having to choose between groceries, medicine, and utilities. Majority live on a fix income and depend on some type of supplemental feeding program.

“Senior hunger and nutrition are significant issues in the U.S., with more than 10 million older Americans at risk of hunger and about 10% of adults experiencing malnutrition.”
